Nearly everyone in the region will know you're referring to the Cheers family who, for 25 years, have set the standard for adventure gear and clothing as owners of Mountain Sports, Ltd. in Bristol, VA.What began as a passion for all things outdoors turned into a profession when Bob, Sr. and Alice were presented with the opportunity to purchase their favorite sporting goods store in 1981. Now the region's largest outdoor outfitter, Mountain Sports offers only the highest quality, dependable, and functional equipment, outerwear and classic clothing.
Through the years, each family member has settled into their niche and can offer unsurpassed advice and expertise. Need to know what kind of clothes to take to Africa? Alice can tell you. What kind of kayak is best for the river? That would be Steve. What bike do you need for the Creeper Trail? Just ask Bobby. Where's the best place to fly fish in the region? Bob, Sr. doesn't mind sharing. And if you happen to find yourself with a dog biscuit in your pocket, two chocolate Labs and one curly-coated terrier will tell you anything else you need to know.
After cultivating the store into the ultimate destination for outdoor gear and adventure clothing, Bob and Alice retired in early 2006, leaving the Bristol icon in the capable hands of sons Bob, Jr. and Steve who are carrying on their parent's legacy. Although retirement has sent them in pursuit of record catches, smooth slopes and sunny destinations, Bob, Sr. and Alice still find themselves helping out from time to time at the store.
The most valuable item in the Mountain Sports, Ltd. inventory can't be placed in a shopping bag. It's the personal attention to detail and superior customer service that can only come from a family passionate about sharing their love of the outdoors.

Saturday: 10 am — 6 pm
Sunday: 1 pm — 5 pm
